Time is broken
into brown periods and black periods.
Space is broken
into vibration & pressure & temperature.
Self is broken
into hunger and retreat
(which meet during mating
and annihilate each other).
Self stands on mud;
Self exists in water.

Then there's smell.
Smell recognizes three things:
Protein/dead is food
(the deader, the softer).
Protein/alive means danger.
Whatever's left is all/other:
just mud, mud and water.
